Launching from Arne (RSPB Reserve)

Launching from the RSPB reserve at Arne provides access to the North west area of the harbour which is an area of outstanding natural beauty.  From Arne we have the option of exploring around the islands, reed beds and mudflats or travelling north into the Wareham channel where there are often Ospreys hunting in the summer.

We are really pleased to be working in partnership with the RSPB who can provide bird watching guides to accompany the canoe tours should you want an experienced local Bird Watcher in the canoe.

Arne (RSPB Reserve)

Poole Harbour

We recommend spending a day at Arne giving you the opportunity to explore the reserve on foot as well as gaining a different perspective by exploring the area around the reserve by canoe. Seeing the beauty of Arne from the water with its array of wildlife and exploring the shallow waters that provide the feeding ground for so many wadding birds as well as marsh harriers is a special experience.

The exact route taken by the Big Canoe when launching from Arne will depend on the prevailing tide and weather conditions.

Half day tour

Our 3 hour paddles will either travel around the Arne Peninsular and into the Wareham channel or travel south around Long and round island and the remote western shore of Poole harbour complete with extensive tidal mud flats and reed beds.

Full day tour

Day paddles enable either a canoe paddle around the Arne peninsular and up the river From to the historic Saxon town of Wareham for lunch and and ice cream before returning or an exploration of all the western islands in Poole Harbour passing Brownsea and onto the Studland penisular for a lunch stop.

Option to add a RSPB bird guide onto a tour @ £50 per half day
